When travelers find out I have spent the past 13 years living in Thailand full time, they ask some odd questions. Some ask why I'm here, others ask where the good beaches are and many ask about good hotel deals.

Having traveled to every province in Thailand except one over the past 20 years .. I was coming and going from '89 to '96 .. I spent time in a variety of accommodations. Generally, hotels in Thailand offer good value. Some offer excellent value.

Service is a major factor here in Thailand. Good staff can make you feel more important than you are .. and probably better than you deserve. :)

I get just as weary of the sugar-coated sales force pay-to-write generated hotel and resort reviews as you do. So I decided to start documenting some of the special hotels and resorts around Thailand.

I have not stayed as a guest in some of the accommodations. And when that is the case, I will make it abundantly clear. I may have visited friends who were guests, dined there .. or just dropped by to look the place over.

I never announce my intentions before soaking up the ambiance and evaluating the service. One thing I have come to realize is that if a casual visitor gets good service, a guest in residence will enjoy even better service.

I don't take money or favors and as a result, I can give you an honest personal opinion about an accommodation

  Privacy - Yes, I believe very strongly that user information should be protected. So when I get around to adding email contact information, I promise not to use your information for any other reason than you ask me to.

So where do I hang my cap? Right now it's at a very modest bungalow on a quiet beach in Prachuap Khiri Khan Province. But I will be leaving soon and my next destination has not been decided.

Over the years, I have lived in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Pattaya and Prachuap. I have driven individually to 75 provinces and hope some day to get to Mae Hong Son.

Such as it is, I built this site myself, coded all the pages .. even designed the logo. Yes, I know!

So until we meet up in person, either here or on the other side, travel well.
